Risk Management in Construction and Rehab

This course equips you with the knowledge and tools to become a highly effective pre-purchase housing counselor. You’ll learn to evaluate client finances, calculate income from diverse sources, interpret credit reports and assess mortgage readiness. You’ll also gain experience developing action plans, conducting follow-ups and navigating the homebuying process. By mastering these skills, you’ll be able to deliver personalized, compliant and impactful counseling sessions that empower clients to achieve homeownership. To obtain full certification in pre-purchase homeownership counseling, it is necessary to complete both this course and the Foreclosure Basics course (HO109 Foreclosure Basics or HO109el) and successfully pass the corresponding exam(s).

This course has 30 hours that count for certification renewal.

What to Expect

The self-guided courses take approximately 2-4 hours of actual online time to complete, and you have 60 days following registration to manage the time.

You must complete all modules and pass the final exam to complete the course. Be sure to manage your time so you can complete all modules and the final exam during your 60-day active registration.

Technical Expectations

To get the most out of this course, you should be comfortable using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Zoom. We recommend having two monitors during live sessions—it makes it easier to follow along and participate. A webcam (even the one built into your laptop works great) and knowing how to download and upload files will also come in handy.

Key Assignments

Throughout the course, there are ungraded check and reflect activities that reinforce your learning. The course has a final exam that must be passed with an 80% or higher score to receive your certificate of completion and credit for the course.
