The Certified Housing Asset Manager is an advanced-level designation that teaches the skills needed to manage the long-term success of multifamily affordable housing properties and portfolios.

Career Path

The Certified Housing Asset Manager is the second of two training programs offered by Consortium for Housing and Asset Management (CHAM). It is designed for professionals who are responsible for implementing asset management within their organizations or who are preparing to move into an asset management role.

Prerequisite: Completion of the Asset Management Specialist certificate (or receipt of an AMS Waiver) is required prior to enrolling.

The Asset Management Specialist Certificate is the first of two training programs offered by CHAM. You must obtain this certificate before beginning the required courses for the Certified Housing Asset Manager Certification. 

Courses are available at in-person events hosted by NeighborWorks America, or on-demand via the HAI group

You do not need to pay a separate certification fee for the Asset Management Specialist Certificate.

  • How long does it take to complete the CHAM Certification?

    You have 3 years to complete the required courses. The actual time depends on your pace and schedule. It is possible to complete the CHAM certification in 18 months. 

  • If I completed my courses already but didn't submit my certification fee, can I still obtain the Certification?

    Yes! You can submit your certification fee at any time, even after completing the required courses, as long as you completed them within the 3-year timeframe.
