HO310vc: Financial Coaching: Helping Clients Reach Their Goals

This course equips you with the tools to become an effective financial coach. You’ll learn how to conduct coaching sessions, set SMART goals, and use active listening to help clients align their financial behaviors with their values. Through hands-on practice, you’ll explore how coaching complements counseling and education, and how to facilitate behavior change that leads to financial security. You’ll also learn how to use tools like the Wheel of Personal Finance and powerful questioning techniques to guide clients toward success.

Christi Baker has 30 years of experience in the economic justice field, working with nonprofits and her own consulting firm. She has developed financial coaching programs, facilitated strategic planning, and led nonprofits. Christi is a certified coach and has a master’s degree in community mental health/counseling psychology. Her work is informed by trauma-informed approaches, mindfulness, coaching, and intersectionality, bringing deep listening and skillful facilitation to her transformative work.
