ML282vcx: How to Negotiate: The Most Important Skill You Will Ever Learn!

The ability to come to mutually acceptable agreements with other people is a vital skill applicable in our professional and personal lives. This course is designed to build each participant's capacity to transform adversarial approaches to negotiation into problem-solving collaborations, producing better outcomes for all parties while enhancing long-term working relationships. The training stimulates participants’ awareness of the complexities of negotiation, and it will equip them with a framework for understanding, diagnosing, and leading the negotiation process in any situation. Participants will conduct negotiation role plays to apply skills in a hands-on learning environment.

Come Prepared for the Course

Welcome to this accelerated 4-day faculty-led course which is designed for optimal interactivity and engagement. Days 1 and 3, are each comprised of a total of 4 hours of live online instruction, divided into two sessions with a 1-hour break in between. Days 2 and 4 are dedicated to self-paced completion of all activities and assignments. All required coursework is due by 11:59 p.m. PT on the designated day of class.

Megan Winkeler

Faculty Member

Megan Winkeler is the Senior Trainer & ADR Consultant at MWI. Megan has trained thousands of people in negotiation, influence, mediation, conflict management, collaborative communication, and leadership skills. She has worked with many of the nation’s top companies, including ExxonMobil, CVS Health, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Analog Devices, and Spotify. Beyond her training work, Megan is also a mediator, ombuds, and attorney. She directed a panel of mediators who provided free services in fourteen Massachusetts Trial Courts and trained mediation programs throughout the state to provide quality housing and eviction mediation services. Megan has a BA in Political Science & Philosophy from Illinois Wesleyan University, a JD from University of Massachusetts School of Law, and served as an Ambassadorial Scholar for Rotary International studying conflict resolution and transitional justice at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
