This course equips you with the tools and knowledge to enhance your comprehensive community development (CCD) strategies. Using a real-world case study, you’ll explore how to align housing policy, data analysis, and strategic planning to achieve long-term place-based outcomes. Learn to differentiate individual and place outcomes, apply a theory of change, and leverage existing programs for greater impact. Through collaborative exercises and practical frameworks, you’ll leave with a clear plan to address neighborhood challenges and implement high-impact CCD strategies in your community.

This faculty-led course takes place over four weeks and includes up to a 90-minute weekly live web conference session, self-paced online assignments and the use of peer discussion forums. Learners should expect to spend approximately four hours per week on course related reading and assignments. All required coursework is due by 11:59 p.m. PT on the designated day of class.

Marcia Nedland is a consultant focusing on market rebuilding strategies and evaluation for neighborhoods and small cities. She founded Fall Creek Consultants, LLC in 1996 and has worked with neighborhood associations, nonprofits, foundations, financial institutions, and local governments. Marcia is known for market analysis, planning models, and strategies related to attracting homebuyers to transitional neighborhoods. She is a member of the national Middle Neighborhoods Steering Committee and coordinates the National Middle Neighborhoods Community of Practice.
